This year’s Oscar® nominations have got pulses racing by highlighting an exciting range of films and creative talent. Freeway congratulates each and everyone involved.
With six nominations Carol continues its awards journey for screenwriter Phyllis Nagy (Adapted Screenplay), actresses Cate Blanchett (Best Actress) and Rooney Mara (Best Supporting Actress), cinematographer Ed Lachman, costume designer Sandy Powell and composer Carter Burwell (Original Score).
Lenny Abrahamson’s Room brought the director his first American Academy nomination as well as a nod in the Best Motion Picture category for Irish producer Ed Guiney, for screenwriter Emma Donoghue (Adapted Screenplay) and actress Brie Larson (Best Actress). Jay Roach’s Trumbo saw Bryan Cranston collect for his first Oscar® nomination for Best Actor.
Asif Kapadia’s documentary Amy which scored a BAFTA nomination double (Outstanding British Film and Best Documentary) is also in the running for the Oscar® for Best Documentary whilst Ciro Guerra’s Embrace of the Serpent takes Colombia into the Best Foreign Language Film category. Paolo Sorrentino’s Youth receives an Original Song nomination for Simple Song #3 for David Lang.
